Hi, I'm Dag on Muskedalen.
I was born in the fall of 1966 in Oslo. My father was an academic who also grew food for the family when I was growing up. My father did exactly the same thing as permaculturists do, only he was out a little earlier.
I got a certificate as a heavy vehicle repairer in 1986, and a truck driver's license in 1987 when I was on my first service in the air force. Since then, I have worked as a tanker driver and as a mechanic. There have been several in-house courses in electrical and motor engineering, and a technical vocational school. I have also attended the Saivo shaman school, which was Ailo Gaup's shaman education, which consisted of weekend gatherings over three years.
It was at that time when I was part of a spiritual environment in the Oslo region in the early 21s that I met a guy from the Mapuche people (the indigenous people of Chile) who spoke warmly about permaculture. I researched it online, and found the first generation of the permaculture association on the internet. In 1996 I bought a house in Greåker with a 1-dekar garden. The lawn was dug up, and potatoes, vegetables and herbs were grown. I planted berry bushes and apple trees, and established a compost there.
Then I learned more about permaculture through videos on YouTube and books. The biggest inspirations have been Zepp Holzer, Geoff Lawton. In 2012, I left the house at Greåker and moved to Muskedalen. I took the PDC course in the fall of 2020 with Jan Bang. The course was held at Eikeløkka in Hvaler. I continued my studies with Jan, and held the diploma presentation in March 2024.
